About Ledňáček
About Ledňáček
Ledňáček is a Montessori forest kindergarten located in two textile yurts surrounded by apple orchards near Tišnov, approximately 25 km northwest of Brno, Czechia.
We are a community of children, guides and parents who create a safe and respectful environment for children's development, shared experiences and mutual listening. We support children in exploring the world around them and encourage respect for themselves, other people, and nature.
Our aim is to support each child in their individual and holistic development.
Life Outdoors
We spend most of the day outside throughout the entire school year and in all kinds of weather. Our daily environment includes the garden, nearby forests, meadows, and riverside areas.
Children naturally experience the changing seasons, develop resilience, and build a close relationship with nature through everyday outdoor life.
Our Team
Ledňáček has one mixed-age group of up to 18children with two guides present every day.
Our team currently consists of 4 guides, a coordinator and the kindergarten director.
Our Educational Approach
MLMŠ Ledňáček stands on three main pillars:
- Montessori Education
Montessori pedagogy brings not only specific materials and activities, but also a carefully prepared environment, respect for the child's individual needs, freedom of choice and support for independence.
- Forest Pedagogy
Nature is an essential part of children's everyday learning. Outdoor life offers countless sensory experiences and naturally supports children's gross and fine motor skills, creativity, independence, physical fitness, communication and cooperation.
Free play and self-chosen activities help children discover their own boundaries while learning to respect the boundaries of others.
- Preschool Education
Ledňáček is an officially registered kindergarten providing full preschool education, including the compulsory preschool year.
Music, art, crafts, movement activities, visits to galleries, theatres and educational centres are also a natural part of our programme.
Basic Principles of Our Kindergarten
• Independence and self-confidence
"Help me do it myself."
• Resilience and practical skills

Our Wider Community
Ledňáček Forest Kindergarten was founded by the Hnízdo – Association for Community Education, which also established the Montessori primary school ZaHRada and the democratic primary school CoLibri.
We also closely cooperate with the Kalužníček Forest Family Club in the Tišnov region, which is based on the principles of forest kindergarten education.
We truly enjoy spending time with children and creating a meaningful, respectful and joyful environment together.
